Editorial Reviews:

If John Mayer has ants in his pants--and, given his many projects and the amount of music he releases in any given year, it appears that he does--his fans aren't complaining. Nor should they be. IThe Village Sessions,/I a six-song EP that retools favorites from Mayer's highly regarded IContinuum/I disc, is mostly a way to feel further connected to him; the hurt comes through on "In Repair" both vocally and via expressive acoustic guitar work, making the IContinuum/I version sound clipped by comparison, and the kicked-back version of "Good Love Is on the Way" (the one song here not from IContinuum,/I but from ITry!,/I a 2005 live disc) dispenses with angst in favor of a more liquid groove. Overall, it's a study in intimacy and focus--for Mayer, there seems to be a certain magic within the four walls of L.A.'s Village Recorder, where he laid down these tracks. Then again, maybe not: Prolific as he is, Mayer is no wand-waver. His reputation for musical pureness proceeds him, and IThe Village Sessions/I is one more testament to it. I--Tammy La Gorce/I

This is a great JM CD if you are already a fan and are looking for that extra acoustic take on some familiar songs. I love the vocal rhythm changes in "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" and the soft guitar in "Belief" I definitely think that this offers a cool, chill feel to John's music, and is a nice tag along with "Where the light is?"

This is a great CD with original songs written and sung in a studio; they are the same songs on Continuum, but with a sassy percussion-type sound. I could listed to John all day long...

when I first saw John Mayer perform in Eric Clapton's DVD Crossroads Guitar Festival didn't think I'll end up buying his CD's till I saw him again on the second Crossroads DVD 07 and one of the tracks he played was Belief a real catchy tune so been listening buying his music since and Village Sessions is another good CD unfortunate only 6 tracks .

5 out of 5 stars Succint success!   April 5, 2008

Oh my...at first, I thought SIX SONGS??? He's GOT to be kidding! But then I drew a bubble bath, poured a glass of wine, and settled into The Village Sessions. Although the disc is short, it is some of John Mayer's finest work, showing off not only his sexy voice, but his masterful acoustical guitar. Worth every penny!

its alribht if you let yourself get into it... if you'd rather gear the original album and care for the little changes that someone could put on something already done than its not for you
